Megan and Ricky are an adorable couple that proved long distance relationships can work out. Not only is their Charming Cherry Blossom Engagement shoot super adorable, but what they had to say about each other was so sweet, it almost made me tear up!
My favorite quote from Megan perfectly encompasses the feelings of excitement when being proposed to: “Ricky looked at me and his eyes were full of tears and began to tell me how he couldn’t imagine his life with out me in it. And in a split second, my dreams came true and I said yes. I said yes to my best friend, my knight in shining armor, my forever and always.” Que the tears and enjoy their fun shoot!
What was your first date like?
Fun, but romantic. We were on a double date with friends who introduced us to each other. It was a spontaneous night of competiveness, laughter and smiles.
Tell us about the proposal.
It was a weird Christmas Eve winter day as it was in the high 70’s! We had dinner reservations at 3pm as it was our first Christmas Eve we were spending with our our families. Ricky told me that I had to be ready by 1pm as he wanted to take me to island heights (one of my favorite spots) to take some pictures before dinner. I know, what a guy! I was all dolled up in a dress and heels and we went down to island heights which is on the water. Ricky took me down to the pier where we walked hand in hand. As we got to the end of the pier, Ricky looked at me and his eyes were full of tears and began to tell me how he couldn’t imagine his life with out me in it. And in a split second, my dreams came true and I said yes. I said yes to my best friend, my knight in shining armour, my forever and always.
What was the inspiration behind your engagement photo shoot? Where did you have your pictures done and why did you choose it?
We wanted to look natural and be caught being our goofy selves! We wanted our love to be captured by not posing like for a prom picture. We had our pictures taken at Branch Brook Park in Newark. We chose that park because of the beautiful scenery. The cherry blossoms are only in bloom for a short time and we wanted their beauty to be captured in our pictures!
How did you know she was the one? How long had you been planning to propose before you actually popped the question?
I knew she was the one after our first date. We had known each other for a long time prior to beginning a relationship, unfortunately that started the day I moved 1600 miles away. We talked non stop until I finally got to come back home to go on our first official date. We had so much fun that night I knew that although things wouldn’t be easy she was the one for me. The proposal planning process took about two months mostly trying to find the perfect ring.
Tell us about the ring!
Well, it’s everything I could’ve ever dreamed of! It is a round solitaire diamond with a white gold diamond band accented with a hint of rose gold in the cathedral setting. I get caught staring at it at all times!
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Megan: I really love his passion. His passion for everything in every aspect of his life. It’s such a turn on!
Ricky: her smile; I love the way she can brighten up any room.
Can you tell us a little bit about your wedding plans so far?
It has been such a fun ride thus far! We are loving every second. Our favorite planning thus far has been picking the music for our ceremony. It was such an emotional and spiritual thing. The fact that we both looked at each other and said “that’s the song, or that’s it” was all it took to know our ceremony is going to be as beautiful as our marriage.
What are you most excited about when thinking about your wedding?
Megan: Seeing Ricky while walking down the aisle.
Ricky: Megan coming through the church doors.
