Rustic, Whimsical, & Southern all make up the details of this stunning Southern Vineyard Wedding at Bluemont Vineyard in Virginia.
Aileen & Lloyd both grew up in small southern towns, and fate brought them together when they both attended Radford University. Aileen sat behind him in class and seemingly just couldn’t concentrate because of Lloyd. So, she decided to do something about it. She searched him on Facebook and messaged him one day in class explaining she was the girl behind him and that she couldn’t concentrate because of him. That’s where their story began. After six years of dating, Lloyd decided to propose the very way Aileen always said she DIDN’T want, in a restaurant. He knew she would never expect it, so he did exactly that by ordering a glass of champagne and having the ring sparkle inside of it. Needless to say, I think Aileen was ultimately thrilled and they soon began planning their wedding.

Tell Us About Your Bridal Style
My bridal gown was from Blush Boutique in Haymarket, Virginia. My gown was a Robert Bullock Lace gown. It was absolutely PERFECT. It had everything I wanted in a wedding dress. It was form fitting but not too tight, it had a low back with beautiful lace straps, a gorgeous bow that fell perfectly on my body, and the front was just breathtaking. My shoes were Nina and I got them from Nordstorms. They were champagne and had the sweetest ruffles on the top.
What Was Your Vision for Your Wedding Day?
I grew up in a small town and have always been somewhat southern. We wanted a small wedding with our closest friends and family because we felt it would be more intimate. I wanted to keep our southern roots a part of our day so we chose a beautiful vineyard in Bluemont, Virginia. We added rustic southern details into our day it and it was lovely. When we began planning our day we worked so hard to make sure every detail was true to us. We based our day on three words: Rustic, Whimsical, and Southern. Between the mason jars, pale pinks, flowy dresses that perfectly complimented each other, the soft flowers, and a venue filled with twinkling lights and lace, our wedding day came together beautifully.
What Was Your Favorite Moment of the Day?
Wow, this is a hard question. I wouldn’t even know where to start. Every part of the day was special from getting ready in the morning with my sisters, mom, and best friends, to arriving to the venue to see the magic of it all coming together, walking down the aisle and seeing my soon to be husband crying, dropping the ring because I was so nervous during our vows, my parents dance that we didn’t know about during the reception, and dancing the night away with friends and family. If I truly had to pick one moment it would probably be seeing Lloyd at the end of the aisle waiting for me to become his wife!
Lloyd’s Favorite Moment?
The moment your dad began to walk you down the aisle.
What Was Your Favorite Part of the Planning Process?
My favorite part of the planning process would have to be getting to do so much of it with my mom. Lloyd and I did the food, cake tastings, and much more together but my mom was such a special part of the planning process too. She made sure every single thing I envisioned came to life. She listened and helped me create this beautiful day that I will cherish forever. Oh, and of course in the process of looking at multiple different venues we sure had fun wine tasting 🙂
Looking Back, Was There Anything You Would Have Done Differently?
I don’t wish I would have done anything differently. Maybe, just to be less stressed as our day was getting closer and enjoy each little moment leading up to our big day with everyone who was surrounding us with their love! The best decision we made was to keep our wedding small and with the most important people in our lives. It truly made it such a magical and special night!
Where Did You Honeymoon?
We went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. It was absolutely gorgeous in September. The weather was amazing, the pools were beautiful, and the ocean was a spectacular site. We enjoyed many excursions and would like to go back sometime soon! We stayed at the Rui Palace and would definitely recommend it to other couples!
What Was Your Wedding Song?
Lloyd and I were listening to the radio driving somewhere together and all of a sudden “I don’t dance” by Lee Brice came on. We both immediately were intrigued and listened to the words as we had contemplated a few different songs prior to hearing this. As soon as it was over Lloyd looked at me and said, “This is the one!”. It was perfect and told our story better than any other song!
