Adorable.
That’s one word that sums up this engagement shoot. We love the fact that Sarah & Zach chose to take a bike ride with their photographer who just happens to live around the corner. Together, they picked a great afternoon and cycled to the beautiful Agritopia Community Garden. We love how laid back and fun this shoot is and is exactly what an engagement session should be all about. Read on for more about their love story.
How did you two meet?
We met at a bar, both of our friends left us that night, we ended up talking, he offered to pay for a cab for me to go home, I wouldn’t let him pay for it, so he offered to walk me home like a gentleman, I accepted. Then for several days he kept trying to get me to go on a date with him. I wasn’t sure I was ready for another relationship, but on Valentine’s Day, he tried one last time and asked me if I would be his valentine. My heart slightly melted and I once again accepted. We hit it off pretty well on our first date at Postino’s, a local wine bar. The rest is history.
How long have you been together when you got engaged?
Almost 5 years when we got engaged.
How did he propose?
We were taking our first real vacation together (without family around) in Dana Point, California. It was Christmas day, we went to our Inn, I saw flowers but didn’t think anything of it. We couldn’t find a restaurant for diner because it was Christmas day and we had forgotten to make reservations. We finally went out to diner for a walk after that, and there was this little gazebo by our Inn on top of a cliff over looking the bay and marina. He suddenly got really nervous and kept telling how much he loved me….and then he got on one knee and right there and then he proposed to me, saying Sarah Anne Cohen Bacry will you marry me, my eyes watered, I could not believe this was happening! I hugged him and kissed him and said Yes of course I want to marry you! He popped a beautiful ring. It was the best day ever! Although we had to get the ring slightly resized because it was hot outside and my hands were a bit swollen. We laughed and thought it was funny.
Tell us about the ring!
The ring was picked by Zach. He had asked his stepmother for advice, because he wasn’t sure what to get me, and I hadn’t told him what I wanted. Quite frankly I didn’t know what I wanted. I joked he could make me a homemade seashell ring and I would be happy as long as he meant his promise. He picked a beautiful clear diamond princess cut ring at Jared’s Jewelers. I haven’t taken it off since. He joked he got me a nice diamond ring to scare away potential suitors.
Have you set a wedding date?
Have you set a wedding date? Location? June 11th 2016, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Can you tell us about your wedding plans so far?
We are going to have our wedding reception at the Victorian Village in Elkhart lake, WI. Zach grew up going there, and use to race cars professionally at the near by racetrack, called Road America. So it is a special place for us. The ceremony will be at the Wade house grounds, in a beautiful meadow. The wedding will have a garden/rustic feel , it will be near the lake, under a tent. The color palette is peach, white and green, we like the southern charm kind of feel. My flowers of choice will be peonies. The bridesmaid dresses will be peach. We are also planning on having a band play songs like “My girl”!
