The timeless & classic wedding of Kaitlyn & Steven is absolutely beautiful. We love how classic everything is and how Kaitlyn chose the color fuchsia for her bridesmaids. They all just shined individually while not taking anything away from the gorgeous bride herself. Kaitlyn’s off the shoulder lace dress is a timeless representation of her style. With over 200 guests in attendance, they chose The Elms Hotel & Spa as their venue. It’s beautiful hardwood floors and back porch won them over as a way to allow guests to mingle and enjoy the scenery of the grounds at The Elms.

How Did You Two Meet?
Steven and I met through mutual friends, you could say we ran in the same circles. We met each other while the all star game was is in Kansas City. We met up with friends at the Gran Falloon. Steven and I both being baseball fans decided to walk across the street together to The Intercontinental to “see who we could see” We then decided to keep the party rolling and decided to go downtown. On our way to Stevens old Land Rover parked in the parking garage beside Capitol Grill, we ran into Bill and Cindy Self (KU head basketball coach). Being that we are both big KU basketball Fans we took turns taking our pictures with Bill Self. I guess you could say we met over baseball and KU basketball. The rest is history, we were engaged a year and a half later.
How Did He Propose?
In True Kansas City fashion we went to dinner at Pierponts at Union station, Steven popped the question right before dessert.
Tell Us About Your Dress
We bought my dress from Altar, its more of a boutique dress shop which I loved! The designer was Augusta Jones. We also purchased my crystal rose gold belt and crystal hair piece from Altar as well. My shoes were Kate Spade and they matched the color of my bridesmaid dresses.
What Was Your Favorite Part of the Planning Process?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was picking out my shoes….other that that, my favorite part was when the planning was over. Although to my mothers credit she planned 99% of it.
Do You Have Any Advice to Other Couples Planning Their Day?
My advice would be if the groom truly doesn’t care to help plan then don’t help. I’m a firm believer in less opinions. Its a stressful time so try and be extra nice to one another….oh and if you can afford it, hire a wedding coordinator!
Where Did You Honeymoon?
We didn’t do a big honey moon we want to wait and save up for a big Europe trip. We went down to Eureka Springs for 3-4 days and stayed at a B&B. It was very relaxing.
What Song Did You Use For Your First Dance?
John Legend, Stay With you. I chose this song because the first time I heard it, it felt like the perfect song…and it always makes me cry.
