Megan & Anthony are a couple that love to travel, so it was only fitting that they incorporated aspects of their favorite things they found in their favorite places on their wedding day. Their cocktail hour consisted of a Saki tasting to exemplify their travels to Japan. I just love it! They decided to have an intimate & elegant wedding celebration with their closest friends and family so that they could spend quality time with everyone in attendance. Her dress was breathtakingly gorgeous, and was perfectly paired with Badgley Mischka heels.

What was the vision for your day?
Our vision was to make it fun and casual for everyone while still having a romantic and elegant feel. We wanted to keep it small so that we had a chance to spend quality time with everyone, and we wanted to incorporate elements of our personalities as well as highlight some of the trips we have taken together.
Were there any special traditions you incorporated in your day?
Our good friend who officiated our wedding played a Tibetan singing bowl at the beginning of the wedding ceremony. This incorporated aspects of our recent trip to Mt. Everest base camp in Nepal.
They made olive oil favors using olive from Anthony’s parents olive farm. They also wrote their own ceremony script and made an alter backdrop of hanging flowers for the ceremony. They made their own guest book using old wine bottles and they painted a number on it. The guests were asked to write a note and put it in the wine bottle corresponding the anniversary year in which they will read the message.
Anthony and Megan went sake tasting and picked their favorite sakes for a sake tasting table at cocktail hour. They decorated the sake table with pictures of their trip to Japan and held the cocktail hour in a Japanese tea garden. They also worked with Anthony’s dad to make the wooden boxes for their centerpieces. The boxes were made of wood from the former fence in Anthony’s childhood backyard and Anthony’s father made a metal brand with their initials and planted succulents in the boxes.
What was your favorite part of the wedding planning process?
We enjoyed spending time together as a couple and with our families preparing for the wedding. We tried to incorporate items that represented us. Megan spent a weekend with her sister and brother-in-law picking all of the music for the ceremony and reception. Megan’s brother-in-law is a musician and performed prior to and during the ceremony including the processional songs which we each picked (Jack Johnson Better Together for entrance of wedding party and Ben Harper Beloved One for Megan’s entrance with her father).
Do you have any advice for other couples planning their day?
Enjoy the planning and don’t put too much stress about the details. The most important thing is to celebrate and have fun while spending time with family and friends incorporate some items that represent you as a couple.
Looking back, what was the best decision you made when planning your wedding day?
The best decision we made was to work with our wedding planner, Shannon from J. Jasper. She was extremely organized. We both slept well the night before the wedding knowing that she had everything taken care of and we were able to really enjoy the wedding day without having to worry about all of the behind-the-scene details.
Where did you go on your Honeymoon? Would you recommend it to other couples?
We went on our honeymoon in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We had a great time surfing, ziplineing, spear fishing, horseback riding, and exploring the rain forests. We would recommend it as a honeymoon location.
