This sweet couple has a fairy tale proposal story that brought many tears to our eyes when we were reading this engagement submission sent us from their photographer, Tarah Elise. Josh might have planned a fabulous proposal but it was what “magically” happened during it that makes this story truly magical.
Josh planned out a romantic proposal for Alicia, set to begin when she got off of work, but at the very last minute, Alicia ended up having to work two hours late. She had no idea she was missing her own engagement! Josh graciously had a limo awaiting her with directions that first led her to getting her nails done, from there the driver took her to the Mall of America where she was to choose & wear a fabulous outfit of her choice. Then he took her to an unknown location where she met Josh and just as he was about to propose a choir appeared — this was not part of Josh’s plan. The choir had just finished practicing and decided to go over to the nearby park to take a few photos, it was then that they spotted Josh & Alicia and that he was about to propose. Just as Josh asked Alicia to marry him, they began singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
It was truly a fairy tale proposal story and one that wouldn’t have happened quite like this had Alicia gotten off work as planned. I get goosebumps thinking about how timing was truly on their side. An innocent bystander just happened to catch it all on video and sent it in to their local news. You can view it here (their story starts at 21:45).
To top it all off, they had incredible engagement photos taken by Tarah Elise Photo, and boy are they swoon worthy! Someone pinch us already!
We met through a mutual friend from my hometown. A couple months went by of Josh telling her to “please introduce him to this friend of hers”, and the night we met we stayed up talking for a couple hours, and he ended up kissing me on the forehead right before he left . I immediately told my friend, “that was so weird”. After that, him and I were strictly friends for a couple months. Then one day he invited me over to his house for a super bowl party, and as I was looking at him, while standing in the kitchen talking about football (of all things), I had some sort of “come to the light” moment, and was 100% sure I was in love with him that day. We’ve been together ever since.
What was your first date like?
I don’t particularly remember a first “date” per say, but the very first time we met, I wanted to leave the bar early, and he would not let me get into a cab alone, so we ended up riding back together, and staying up all night talking until his friend picked him up the next morning. (Can’t forget that forehead kiss)
Josh, when did you know Alicia was the one? How ling had you been planning the proposal before you popped the question?
I always knew there was something about her that was different from everyone else. Every time I left her after spending time together, I felt more sure about wanting to be with her. I knew I loved her the night we spent the night in making Digiorno pizza sticks at her apartment, and we stayed up eating and watching movies all night long, and I felt like I never ran out of things to say, and I couldn’t stop staring at her! When my parents and all of my friends fell in love with her just as quickly as I did, I knew that was it. -Josh
