Lauren & Danny met like many couples do, at college. They quickly fell in love and the rest was history. Danny knew he wanted to surprise Lauren with the proposal, and that he did. He planned a surprise romantic trip for the two of them, each day was full of a fun date that he created for the two of them. On the last day of their trip, he took Lauren to a beautiful garden where all the flowers were in bloom and there on bended knee is where he asked Lauren to marry him. Lauren was completely surprised, and of course she said yes!
They chose to have a destination wedding at the beautiful Historic Rosemont Manor in Virginia. We are absolutely in awe of Lauren’s beauty on her wedding day, her dress was specially designed by Roya from Elegance by Roya, it was one of a kind and was made to fit her perfectly. There was no detail left undone. Her cascading bouquet was the icing on the cake that completed her look.
What was the best decision you made while planning your wedding?
I absolutely loved that I was able to have two wonderful photographers as my team for the day. I don’t believe the amount of amazing photos we captured could have been done had we not had two fabulous people looking at different angles at different times. It really pays off to have two people working with you so nothing is missed!
What was your vision for your wedding day?
My vision was simple really. All I longed for was a day and a look that would be remembered as most elegant. My dress, the flowers, the cake, the venue, and everything else were tied in to fit a classic, elegant look I dreamed up in my mind as a little girl. I always dreamed of getting married at a beautiful outdoor site with a large, timeless house overlooking stunning landscape. I couldn’t have asked for more when I found Rosemont Manor. There was a sense of alluring charm and grace that I wanted more than the outlandish glamor seen in most weddings today. I believe I got just that and was able to extend this feeling to our guests as well. My husband and I still can’t believe how perfect everything turned out and still melt at the thought of it all!
What was your favorite moment of the day?
I think I speak for both of us when I say our favorite moment was seeing each other (and being stunned to tears) as I walked toward him and he faced me at opposite ends of the aisle.
Were there any traditions you incorporated into your wedding day?
Culturally, my husband and I are both Korean (Actually, I am half) and the women on his side of the family (mothers, aunts and grandmothers) decided to wear traditional Korean garments called “hanboks.” There weren’t any other cultural traditions that we included. We mainly incorporated a religious ceremony known as communion.
What was your favorite part of the planning process?
My favorite part of the planning process was picking out the décor, the layout, the details and all of the assortment of colors. My mother helped me tremendously and I believe I had a blast planning this wedding because we made it a fun bonding activity together.
What song did you use for your first dance?
We used the song, “I Will Be Here” by Stephen Curtis Chapman. This song was particularly special to us both because it was one of the first things we listened to together before we started dating. It was a song I chose to show to him because it meant something deep to me (a picture of how I wanted my future marriage to be) and incidentally, it was the very same song he had heard years ago in another country. He had been trying to find the name of this song for years! It wasn’t until we met and I shared this with him that he finally found the song he was looking for too! I thought this was incredible and romantic.
